Not mouthbreathing - A good thing!

My dental hygienist asked me today if there were any changes in my health. I told her about my apnea and the fact that I was using a cpap.

During the cleaning she commented that my gums weren't as puffy as usual and it only took her 1/2 as much time to clean my teeth. We talked about the fact that I use a chin strap when I use my cpap. She said that when she went to college they told her that if you mouth breath your gums become inflamed, and since my appointments were always in the morning (sometimes only about 1 hour after I woke up) mine were.

To make a long story short... She noticed a difference and so did I. Not only did it not take as long to clean my teeth, but she said she could clean them much better because of the lack of inflammation.
