Source for "Distilled Water"

Posted by AlA on June 04, 2004 at 04:57:02:

We recently acquired a new dehumidifier for our basement. After putting the condensate down the drain for a few weeks my wife suggested this as a source of "distilled water". The air is filtered going into the dehumidifer, and the collector container is clean. In addition to my Autopap use, we had been buying distilled water for our cats to drink due to the recommendation of the vet. The dehumidifier condensate is both very convenient and an effective use of an otherwise discarded product.

I would be interested in comments on this idea.
