Posted by Sleepy Time Time on June 04, 2004 at 10:12:46:Well, today is the second day in a row and the third time in a week that I have awakened with shortness of breath after using Cpap the night before.
I just got back on Cpap about two weeks ago, am giving it another try.
This shortness of breath situation is new, just since getting back on Cpap. The first time I reported this, last week, someone here suggested it was cos I had set my Auto Pap range too high. (I had set it at 8-12, and my Cpap titration told me I need 10)
Since then, I tightened the range to 8-10, and the last two mornings, I still awoke short of breath, and am experiencing it now.
I wonder if Cpap can cause shortness of breath even in situations where the pressure is "accurate"? Has anyone experienced this in their first few weeks on Cpap (or back on Cpap), and then it went away?
Tonight I am going to sleep without it and see if I still wake up short of breath tomorrow.
(I did have a persantine stress test yesterday, ordered by my cardiologist, to see what else might be causing it -- dont have the results yet)
