Kevin,
So what should a person like me do, then, who has been titrated five times and tried Cpap, Auto Pap and Bi Pap and now Auto Pap again -- an tried various pressure levels, with no improvement -- and suspects he might therefore have untreated UARS?
I do live in a big city near two big university teaching hospitals, each of whom have sleep clinics / labs. I wonder how I would find out if they use the "gold standard" you refer to, or some other reliable method, of detect UARS?
Any thoughts?
I have been to the clinics at each of these hospitals, and the sleep docs at each dont seem to give much weight to the UARS "theory", so I dont know if I would have any luck getting them to test me for it. Both have just continued to suggest new pressure levels, but I think I'm running out of combinations to try : )
(So far I've been titrated at Cpap at 8, 9, 10, and on Bi Pap at 10/4 and 15/10, depending on the year and my weight at the time)
(When I've been told I needed Cpap at those levels, I have also tried various Auto Pap ranges "around" those levels, such as 5-8, 5-10, 8-10, 8-12, etc.
