Provigil is a contraction for "Promote Vigilance." Unlike caffeine it is not a traditional stimulant (per Dr. Dement). Dr. Dement suggests that it is a completely new category of drugs. You should not feel "wired," merely awake.

I have some concerns about this medication (I take it myself). However, it is very different from caffeine.
