I'm guessing in my case it's a cause of the apnea, or at least a very strong contributing factor...but I won't know for sure till I'm thin, will I? *grin* I've been treated with CPAP for 7 years, and haven't found losing weight to be the easy thing they said it would be if I did CPAP. If the apnea CAUSED the weight gain, being treated would make it easy to lose, I would think...
