I'm 45 years old and I am 25 lbs overweight. I too thought after I was diagnosed with apnea and regained some energy the weight would come off easily; however, It has taken me 6 weeks of serious dieting to lose 5 lbs. I have snored off and on since I was a teenager (and weighed 95 lbs.) and have always been tired in the afternoon. It just go worse with age - when I reached 35 I became increasingly unable to function in the afternoon and unable to exercise, thus gaining 25 lbs. I think alot of factors play into the apnea - weight gain, small airways, recessed chin, etc. (I have a very small mouth, recessed chin)
