cjm36,

Thanks for the reply and the welcome!

FYI, I had my first appointment with a PA in an ENT's office. I'm a little leery as the ENT himself has branched out into cosmetic laser surgery and the PA was pretty quick to bring up surgery as an option. It was more "let's figure out which sort of surgery we're going to do on you" rather than "here's your options, there are several surgeries that might work, and there's CPAP, etc.

So I'm thinking about going to a different ENT who's also in-network and happens to treat one of my children for an unrelated issue.

Anyway, the PA diagnosed me with a deviated septum and sinusitis and I had a CT scan done this morning. I could see the deviated septum on the CT scans, but everything else there was kind of confusing. Lots of little chambers in your head...didn't know that.

Also, I'm going to have the full-on sleep study as the home pulse-ox test is $125 or so and not covered by insurance, but the full-on sleep study is $4000 but insurance pays 100% after a $100 deductible. Our insurance dollars at work...go figure.

I am in the process of trying to lose some weight. I topped out at 187 (5'10" or so), am at 180, and am wanting to get down to about 165-170. It seems from the data my wife has given me that the snoring subsides about 173 or so.

I've read about the CPAP on this forum. Doesn't sound too appealing to me but I'll probably have to go through it to get to the surgical options. Dont' know at this point what I'll do but I'm very appreciative that this forum is out there.
