Are you using a heated humidifier? Your last paragraph about the relief you get from a steamy hot shower is the tipoff. If you are using a heated humidifier, try turning it up. You should be using most of the water overnight. If rainout occurs, get an insulating sleeve for the hose.

Some people benefit from positive self-suggestion or relaxation techniques.
