ENTs frequently recommend surgery, because that's what they do. They may neglect to tell you that studies show that less than 50% of surgeries actually help with apnea. I had the surgeries and know from painful experience.I would suggest going to a non-surgeon qualified sleep MD to get a second opinion. To find a qualified doctor, I suggest going through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (www.absm.org/Diplomates/listing.htm) The American Sleep Apnea Assoc. has surgery info on its’ site. You can find it at www.sleepapnea.org. Then, click Publications and then click Considering Surgery for OSA?. Good luck in your search. You really have to do your homework before you agree to surgery. It can't be undone and can complicate things.
