I'll start with the last question first:
Chances are good that CPAP will turn your life around. You might have a few stumbling blocks with leaks and whatever, but most problems can be worked through. Be sure to get a heated humidifier; most people need one. Better to have it and not need it than to run into discomfort right off the bat and have to wait for it.
You'll probably spend more time in REM sleep for a time, but I don't know that anyone has ever correlated specific results with increased REM. Someone else on this forum may have more information.
Sleep apnea can be a factor in ADD.
Relationship between apnea, anxiety and depression cannot be answered briefly. You'll get a great deal of information by doing searches of past forums. If it's any consolation to you, many apneics have been misdiagnosed as depressed and no longer need medication once they start paying off their sleep debt. Do not, however, go off any medication without discussing it first with your doctor.
Get a copy of your sleep study and find out what your blood oxygen desaturations are. That will give you some idea of the severity of your apnea. Normal sleeping blood oxygen should be between 90%-95%.
Finally, IMHO, you probably are not living "on the edge of exhaustion. . ."; you are more likely totally exhausted and driving yourself by sheer force of will. Hmmmm?
