incorrect c/pap setting

Posted by SL in MD on September 10, 2004 at 21:19:47:

Today I visited my pulomary doctor for the first time since I began using my c/pap on July 22. I was given a Respironics unit with a setting of 4-12.
I mastered sleeping with the machine and mask and had begun to feel much better. Only complaint is a new thing of chest pain.
My doctor said the setting was incorrect and should have been 7 this is a big difference. I am now used to this pressure, which he says is to much for me.
I'm confused how this mistake could have happened to begin with in setting the pressure on the machine. Second now that I'v gotten used to 12 how will going to 7 feel. Will I feel like I'm suffocating?
The pain I've been experiencing could any of that be related to this error in setting up my c/pap machine?
Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sandy
