Is swallowing air common?

Posted by Aerobat on October 26, 2004 at 11:31:09:

I've been on CPAP for about 6 months; everything's seems to be OK. Every now & then, I've noticed that I wake up with a lot of air in my stomach, presumably having swallowed it in my sleep. While this isn't a big problem, one night I did wake up with an upset stomach from way too much air.

My questions are: is this common? Is this particular to those of us who use full face masks? Is there a way to prevent this?
