Posted by Sleepy Time Time on October 26, 2004 at 15:53:08:I posted this on the non-Cpap side as well, but am also posting here since it involves surgery as it relates to Cpap effectiveness.
Went to the ENT today, and he said my turbinates were large, and said he would do the somno of the turbs if I wanted, which he described as minor and non-invasive.
But he said something weird -- he said that people who get somno of turbs to reduce their size do so in order to improve their ability to "tolerate" Cpap -- that it doesnt usually result in them needing a lower pressure.
Has anyone else heard this? All along I have been thinking that my chronic nasal congestion due to swollen turbinates was perhaps interfering with the effectiveness of Cpap, and thought that if I got em reduced, I could lower my pressure.
At present, I am not having a problem tolerating Cpap -- I can usually sleep about six hours with it. I had serious problems in the past tolerating it but not now -- Now, my problem is that I am sleeping about six hours with it and it aint working!
