Not always problems

Posted by RollingThunder on October 27, 2004 at 05:07:02:

Hello all,

I just want to offer some support to CPAP newbies, that there are not always problems.

I am on day 5 of CPAP and I have no problems to report.

I have bought a RemStar Pro using a Reperonics full face mask, and the supplier has given me a loaner unit, with mask for free until my ordered unit comes in.

Although the first night was fitful, I made sure not to sleep during the next day, and went right to sleep on the second night (15 min) and have had no further issues sleeping.

Although report leaks with the full face mask, it works very well for me. I am a mouth breather due to a minor septum problem, and small sinuses, so I am happy to report that the full face mask works fine.

I have not been troubled by back pain, and after the second night no longer awake during the night or need to get out of bed.

Every day I fell a bit better, willing to do physical things that would previously been put off for another time.

There are no claustraphobia issues created by the mask, and I am already feeling happy to have it, as I can see improvement in my daily routine.

I am not writing to indicate that it is a bed of roses for everyone, but there are many success stories, and to offer encouragement to other CPAP newbies.

Latly, I would like to thank all the members of the forum for all their advice and experience, it is worth it's weight in gold. It allivated a lot of worry, and saved me a number of pitfalls between diagnosis, titration, and buying my machine.

For all you newbies, this is a great resource and there is tons of good information to be found in this forum.

The only downside is that my wife is having more problems sleeping, now that my constant loud snoring is gone. I am sure she will get over it.

Thanks to all.

Silenced Thunder (and finally sleeping)
