I doubt your perceptions because if anyone had asked me about the quality of my sleep when I was ten years into apnea, my answers would have been the same as yours; "I sleep like a log and I'm fine." And my husband was telling me I stopped breathing while sleeping and it alarmed him and I dismissed his concerns. After all, I was sleeping just fine, wasn't I? Yes, I was often tired, but I was working hard and involved in many things.

However, another ten years and all the adverse consequences of untreated sleep apnea were in full bloom -- falling asleep at the wheel, memory loss, inability to think, too tired to do anything other than work and sleep and wonder how long before I lost my job. . . . What do you think a consistent 10% oxygen deficiency is going to do to your brain?

Please reread my original post: "The negative impact of sleep apnea is cumulative. In the early years, it doesn't appear to make much difference in quality of life. . . ."
