CPAP Prescription, Insurance, DME

Posted by mom2megandryan on January 06, 2005 at 19:57:26:

The day after my CPAP titration, I received a call from a DME that had my CPAP presciption. They wanted $1200 (includes my $1000 insurance deductible) before ordering it. When I asked how much the machine costs - it was $2,500.

It includes a heated humidifier, but isn't $2,500 really expensive? And shouldn't the doctor give the prescription to me, and not the DME?

Another question - I haven't met with a dr yet to discuss my detailed sleep study results. Should I talk to my ENT or the sleep doc?

Thanks in advance for your help!
