I would suggest that before purchase you rent for a couple of months to be certain you can adjust to CPAP and better determine what you need and want in a machine. Many insurance companies require a new person rent for a period and prove compliance before they will agree to purchase.

Go the the SleepMall at this site and look at machine prices - $2,500 is obscene. Find and price the machine on the web that the DME quoted you and talk to them about it. Often they will negotiate. You should probably not buy your first machine off the web because you may need some fitting and services that a DME can provide. If they will not negotiate then get a copy of the prescription - it is your prescription, and check with other DME companies in your area. A CPAP is just like a TV in that people are in business to make money and the price is flexible. You can be really ripped off if you are uninformed. I did buy my second machine on the web. I usually buy my mask from a local DME becuase they let me try on the latest different models to see what I like and what fits the best.
