Your sleep doc may want labwork to go help explain some things that he may have seen on your sleep study.

We will look at iron/ferritin levels in patients with RLS/PLMs. We look at Hemaglobin A1C's to see how your body is processing carbs (apnea can really screw up insulin/leptin levels). A simple RBC can show some types of polycythemia - an excess of reb blood cells some apneics develope as a way to protect against chronic low saturations.

It really doesn't matter if the lab work was ordered/drawn before/after your sleep study.
