The problem with that analogy is than an insulin dependent (I.E. type I) diabetic will have serious problems, and have them almost immeidatiely. IF you have OSA, you could get away without your CPAP for years before you have problems comparable in severity. However, you ultimately will have problems, and your quality of life will surely be impacted long before you have such complications.
