neurological damage?

Posted by SusanM on February 28, 2005 at 15:35:37:

Hi

I am new here and I have some questions. I have been told that I probably have sleep apnea. I did the test where you wear a oxygen monitor all night on your finger. It showed I was not getting enough oxygen. I wake in the night and know I am not breathing and I do not know how to start breathing again. After a second or two my breathing resumes. I am not overweight, I do not have high blood pressure, nor is my snoring loud. I do, though, have some significant neurological problems that have gone undiagnosed. I am wondering if sleep apnea can cause neuro problems. Or visa versa, could sleep apnea be caused by neuro problems?
I go for a sleep study in a couple of weeks.
Thanks.
