Wierd blood oxygen levels!!

Posted by phils95cobra on April 19, 2005 at 22:44:03:

I had surgery for my turbinates and septum a couple of weeks ago. Because I have severe OSA (60 events per hour), they watched me closely after the surgery. The entire time I was in the hospital, sleeping or not, my blood oxygen level never dropped below 94%. Mind you, I had no extra oxygen, or CPAP. I was constantly monitored. Like I said, my blood oxygen levels never went below 94% in the two days I was there.

My question is, seeing as how I had been tested and had more that 60 events per hour (apnea), while in the hospital, not being able to breathe through my nose, shouldn't have I had a much lower blood oxygen level than I did, especially while sleeping?

What could this mean?
