Posted by myopeus on April 22, 2005 at 06:38:42:Hi,
Newbie here, and parttime lurker. I need some advice. About six weeks ago, I was diagnosed with light sleep apnea. Falling asleep with the mask doesn't seem to bother me. But I often awake to find I have removed the mask during my sleep without me knowing it. In fact my wife will often awake me and tell me to put it back on so I will quit snoring. I have a "Fisher and Paykel" mask and it seems to fit be better than others I have tried. I "think" that possibly I develope nasal congestion as the night wears on and thats why I remove it. But that is only a guess. I have had a lifelong history of chronic sinus problems. My cpap has a heated humidifier, although I don't know the setting. I occassionally get a little water in the mask, if I manage to keep it on all night. The room temp is 68 to 70 degrees. I have a deviate septum. Thats all the info I can think of to provide. Tried a chin strap and couldn't fall asleep with it on.
Any suggestions as to keeping mask on and/or combattong nasal congestion would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, cpap is set to ramp up from 4 to 10 in fifteen minutes.
Thanks
