Posted by newapapuser on June 15, 2005 at 11:21:42:The information packet that I received before my first sleep study (scheduled to be a split study) said that if I thought I would have trouble falling asleep that I should get a prescription for a single dose of lorazepam from my Dr., and take it the night of the study. I had a terrible time falling asleep for that study, and did not have enough apneas soon enough, so there was no time for a titration the second half of the night.
So, I have to go back for a second titration study. The second information packet did not say it was OK to take lorazepam. Any ideas why it would be OK to take it for the first one, but not the second? Does lorazepam have any impact on sleep studies? Does your sleep center encourage or discourage the use of sleep aids for sleep studies?
At $2500 a pop for a sleep study, it seems to me that lying awake for 4 hours with all of the sensors, etc, just trying to fall asleep is a big waste of everyone's time and money.
