Nasal mask will not make the difference in the dryness. There were many posts about three years back describing techniques for warming the water in a passive humidifier. Most of them had to do with putting the humidifier on a heating pad, I believe. Try doing searches on passive and heat and see if you come up with anything meaningful. Good luck.

Oh, and try to get those allergies treated as soon as you get insurance as well.
