CPAP problems

Posted by Iggy on October 04, 2005 at 08:32:27:

Hi newbie here.

I have been diagnosed with what my doctor calls severe apnea with waking intervals of 40 per hour. Last Friday I picked up a CPAP machine. I have a REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP with humidifier and a Breeze SleepGear mask with Nasal Pillows. The nasal pillows don't bother me at all but after 5 days of trying the machine, my symptons are actually worse than before. Although I've gotten used to wearing the mask and the machine itself, I've noticed a few problems.

1) Inhaling is fine but I seem to exhale in spurts
2) I wake up with pains in my chest
3) I wake up with numbing headaches that last the whole morning even after I've taken tylenol
4) I still toss and turn during the night
5) there have been instances of removing my mask and replacing it during the night.
6) I wake up with a mild throat irriation somewhat akin to a mild cold.

I am waiting to hear from my machine supplier and frankly I've almost afraid to use it tonight. Any comments?
