Exhaling in spurts - I often felt that way, but it didn't seem to affect me. CPAP is different from your normal breathing.

Pain in the chest is NOT good. Tell your doctor right away.

Tossing and turning is not always cured by CPAP. That's not it's primary function.

Removing the mask is almost universal. It takes anywhere from a week to years (!) to get fully used to CPAP, and some never do. There are many many options to tweak the system for your specific needs.

Throat irritation indicates (as DH posted) possible need for humidification. I don't recall ever seeing a post where someone complained about using a humidifier!

Don't get in the habit of stopping CPAP use. Pretty soon you'll never use it. Instead, get in the habit of being a sqeaky wheel with your doctor and DME. If they suggest something, try it for the specified time (make sure to get them to specify that time!!!) and call back as soon as that time has gone by to report success and failure. Otherwise, you will fade into the background as far as they are concerned. Doctors tend to think that if you don't call, everything's fine.

Also, there is a metric TON of information here in past posts. Get familiar with the Search function, or just browse through past forums. Everything you post has been experienced MANY times by others.
