Driving & Apnea

Posted by mymisfit on October 05, 2005 at 23:49:58:

I was diagnosed with OSA a year ago and have been fully compliant. Went from CPAP to APAP, have had five different masks and am unable to tolerate them due to a severely recessed chin and overbite. Tried the ace bandage/chin strap, etc. Have an appointment re having an MMA done on Oct 12th at Stanford. That is my background--now for the question: What are you all using for your criteria as to when you drive and when you don't? I get so tired as if I have liquid lead pouring through my veins and my concentration and retention are greatly compomised--not every day, most days. This feeling comes on suddenly, with no warning. Do you relate, or is this possibly something other than, or in addition to the apnea? I'm afraid to ask my doctor this as I believe they are required by law to report it to the motor vehicle department. I took myself off the road about 60 days ago, but am still questioning that decision. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.-dee
