polysomnogram help

Posted by rockin robin on October 07, 2005 at 14:01:24:

I recently did a polysomnogram and it came back with 161 hypopneas and 1 apnea during REM over a 6-hour sleep period. There were 28 awakenings and 100 stage shifts. (5 cycles total), moderate alpha intrusion.

Doesn't 161 hypopneas seem like a lot? Why is it that when I try to "google" around, I am seeing stories about people with 5 or 15 hypopneas?

Thank you, I am very new to this and wondering what mess I have gotten myself into.
