An apnea is generally defined as a complete cessation of breathing, where a hypopnea is defined as a shallow breath.
We concentrate on apneas, but a hypopnea can be as disruptive to sleep as a regular apnea.
I wouldn't be surprised if your oxygen sats never got low. However, you are likely experiencing some sleep fragmentation.
