Your polysomnograph test shows you have a sleep breathing disorder. Welcome to the club. Most people here on the forum suffer for a sleep breathing disorder and share information about how they are doing and what they do to treat their problem. We talk a lot about equipment problems, related health problems, and some emotional problems that surround this disorder.

Whether you have a lot of apneas, a lot of hypopneas, or a mix, it's still a sleep breathing disorder. What results is a huge amount of awakenings that limit the body's ability to achieve restful sleep. You may also have some oxygen desaturation during your sleep below normal levels. This can be troublesome as well.

Sleep apnea or other sleep breathing disorders are not diseases.

You post an interesting sentence...quote 'I am very new to this and wondering what mess I have gotten myself into' un-quote.

If you are overweight and felt this has come on because of it, symptoms *sometimes* can be relieved by losing the weight again. BUT, it does not always help to lose weight and there are many people who have very average body weight and suffer from this.

I'd be interested to hear why you think it is you who got yourself into this 'mess'? Please elaborate.
