Your OSA may be due more to your physiology rather than a "lack of caretaking" of your health.

Plenty of otherwise healthy people find themselves with OSA. Don't make the mistake of thinking that sleep apnea is an overweight person's disease, or an old person's disease, or an unhealthy person's disease. We see many posts from people in their early twenties who are surprised to be experiencing OSA.

If your physiology is part of the problem, there is nothing preventative you could have possibly done.
