Being the non-expert that I am, I think leaks could affect the therapy some, especially if it goes on all night. I'd guess a leak would lower the air pressure some, which could allow the apnea to somewhat return. Not to mention the annoyance of the leaks disturbing your sleep. I know I'm gross, but sometimes I don't wash the mask every day and if it gets a little oily, I have more leaks. I have some leaking almost every night, or the Darth Vader effect, and I can usually fix it by just reaching up and manipulating the offending prong until it seals. For what it's worth, I think SNAPPs have a reputation for sealing better than most masks. Best wishes!
