Thanks for the responses. Gender's not an issue as the bad sleep periods last between 2 and 5+ weeks. And, as noted no changes in diet, pets, chemicals (ruling out alergens - I went down that road years ago).
The tip regarding data recording maybe helpful. Are you referring to the smartcard? When I last saw the doctor, I identified the unrestful period and he said there was no change in patterns between that period and those leading up to and following it.
I know this is an odd one, but do appreciate the help.
