anyone have advice for me?

I am scared I might have sleep apnea. I do have hypnopompic hallucinations (see things when I wake up which are not really there) I can't fall asleep or stay asleep, and I am tired all day long. I actually found this website when I was researching my hallucinations after my doctor had told me why I see things when I wake up. As I read on I saw something about sleep apnea making you wake up choking. This happens to me probably once a month on average and I always thought it was just that I had somehow swallowed my saliva and choked, but after reading about sleep apnea, I found that is also a symptom. When it happens I do feel as though I am choking on something like water or saliva. I have two questions, when you have sleep apnea and wake up choking, does it feel like you are choking on a liquid? And would you recommend going to the doctor or does it not even sound like what you experience with sleep apnea? Thanks so much to anyone who can help me, I really appreciate it.
