Posted by BaS on January 31, 2006 at 16:52:21:I posted a recent message regarding possible links between sleep apnea and loss of libido. In my message, I put forward the point that sleep apnea seemed to get the blame for a lot of different ailmets.
Alamo Joe, you replied and asked me to list the ailments I was referring to, with citations. Here you go (please note, I have only scratched the surface here);
From the "Stanford.edu" website...
Headaches, unrefreshed sleep, dry mouth, high blood pressure, overweight, irritability, change in personality, depression, difficulty in concentrating, excessive perspiration, heartburn, REDUCED LIBIDO, insomnia, nocturia, restless sleep, rapid weight gain, confusion on waking, heart attack, stroke, impotence, irregular heartbeat, heart disease.
From the "American Sleep Apnea Association" website...
High blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, headaches, job impairment, motor vehicle crashes.
From the "Familydoctor.org" website...
Fatigue, iriitability, headaches, forgetfulness, mood changes, decreased interest in sex, heart disease, stroke.
Alamo Joe - your thoughts???
Regards, BAS.
