Posted by adjusted on February 09, 2006 at 21:56:52:Well, I have borrowed an autopap from the sleep clinic. They also lent me a new mask, a flex something. Anyway, I've had it two nights, and I was curious to know how the pressure readings were going, but I don't have the software. However, as the pressure changes, it shows on the machine. So, I asked my husband to look at the machine if he happened to wake up anytime during the night. Last night, he woke up around 4 a.m., and it showed a pressure of 9. (I had been sleeping with a regular cpap at 8, and was just increased to 12.) Then at 5:00 a.m., he looked again and it was 16.5! And then he looked again at 5:30, and it was 17.5! So, if I buy an autopap, what would the pressures need to be set to? I'm told my insurance company never pays for an autopap, no matter what, so I assume I'm on my own for this one. But, doesn't that seem like a very large difference in pressures? Maybe we should all be on autopaps! I would never have thought I'd need one, but . . .
Just for the record, I'm female and not overweight.
