I am not able to help with the labored breathing problems-no experience there. But I do know it can take a long time to adjust to cpap. Often you have to tweak things like the mask, the pressure, sleeping position, etc. Are you using a heated humidifier? That is a big help and can make use of the cpap more comfortable.

About exercising. I have had to recover from severe illnesses and worked long and hard to get back into exercise. The best method for me was walking. I once had a severe drug reaction and almost died. To get my strength back, I walked. The first day I went to the end of the driveway. The next day I went one house down and back. The next day I went one house down the street and back three times-resting several hours in between. Walking is one of the most stress free exercises you can do. It doesn't cost anything and can be done any time. Many people walk in the mall.

Just don't try to do too much too soon or you will injure something and get discouraged. You will hit plateaus where you do the same amount of exercise for several days (or weeks) before you can increase it. You will also have setbacks. All of this is normal. Set small goals for yourself and be kind to yourself during the setbacks. Get good shoes. A pedomiter can also help motivate you and track your progress.

Good luck!
