Blocked Breath on Exhale

Posted by blockedbreath on February 27, 2006 at 16:56:12:

Hi I'm really hoping someone can help me. I do have sleep apnea and cpap/bipap dosen't help. What is really weird is my breath is blocked on the exhale. In the morning, right before I wake, I'm very aware that I cannot exhale unless my mouth is open - as I drift off in the morning after being wakened by the blocked breath, it continues to wake me until I get out of bed. I went to see an ENT on Friday and he told me I had a narrow opening and scheduled me for surgery for the UPPP, something to do with my tonsils and radio freq on my tongue to shrink it. When I asked him about the 'blocked breath' on the exhale, he just casually said 'I don't know anything about that'. I've read many postings (thank you to everyone for sharing) and I'm torn as to whether this surgery will help me. Has anybody ever experienced having their breath blocked on the exhale? I'm really struggling with this and I don't know where to take this... Thank you everyone for your support and guidence.
