New CPAP User with a question

Posted by learningaboutSA on February 28, 2006 at 18:17:24:

Hi, I am getting my first CPAP machine tomorrow. I have very severe sleep apnea, and my setting on the air flow will be between 15 and 16.

I still have a lot to learn, but from what I have read, this sounds like a pretty high setting, isn't it?

Anyway, my question is, with this high of a setting, what do I need to watch for? What problems may arise? ie. sinus infection etc.

Also, after my one night titration - my lungs were sore for 2 days. Would this be because of the high setting I need? Do you think the sore lungs will come back? And how long will I have to put up with that? OR better yet - how long SHOULD I put up with that before I complain to the doctor?

I am supposed to have my CPAP for a month, then go back to see the doctor.

Thanks for your patience, and expertise...

I figure I will have to put up with some 'obstacles' but it will be worth it in the long run, and I sure am looking forward to having more ENERGY!
