The amount of pressure you need and sinus infections are not related. Don't worry about that.
There are going to be some aches and pains and weird things that can happen. Yet most people find that these problems subside after time and the benefits far outweigh the problems.
With your prescribed pressure of 15 or 16, it is likely you should be needing a heated humidifier with the CPAP machine. Be sure you get one.
The comfort and fit of the mask are half the battle! With a pressure on the higher end, it will take some adjustment to get your new mask fitting without leaks. It may take a trial period on a few different masks until you find one that is right for you. Never over-tighten a mask to achieve a fit. If it is leaking and the leaking cannot be helped, ask for a different size of the mask or a different type of mask entirely.
About the machine, I would almost recommend a Respironics CPAP that has the C-Flex option with a pressure of 15 or 16. This is a design feature that will make breathing out against the air easier at higher pressure levels. If you get a choice of CPAP machines, ask for a machine that has the C-Flex feature.
