Posted by JS on March 06, 2006 at 10:24:53:About a month ago, I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea. Three days ago, I received my CPAP machine- a Fisher & Paykel Sleep Style 200 series (I think) with heated humidification.
Needless today, I'm very excited about experiencing the benefits of CPAP.
My first morning after sleeping with the device, I woke up much earlier than I normally would have and felt great. The second and third mornings, I've been feeling pretty good upon awakening, but I feel pretty tired during the day- more tired than usual.
I've noticed that my air tube leaks quite a bit toward the top, and I'm wondering if there's something wrong with it. The tube attaches to my mask with a solid click, and there's a plastic piece attached to the top of the tube right below the connection to the mask- it's at the bottom of this plastic piece (which covers the plastic tube like a sheath) where the leak seems to be.
The amount of air that comes out of this area is pretty strong, and definitely audible. It's the only part of the entire tube/mask setup that is leaking anything at all, so I'm wondering if this is by design or if my tube is leaking. I'm conerened that if I do have a leak, perhaps I'm not getting enough air and the CPAP machine is actually doing more harm than good?
I think I'm probably overreacting, of course. I still pressure coming into the mask.
Anyway, any advice would be great. Thanks!
