The "leak" you describe is designed in to wash out exhaled carbon dioxide.

You may feel more tired than usual as your body adjusts to getting the sleep it needs as well as dealing with sleep debt that may be substantial. Sleep apnea can throw normal biorhythms and circadian cycles severely out of whack, not to mention various hormonal balances. Your concern is quite normal and understandable. Work on relaxation, acceptance and an awareness that your body knows what it needs and will work toward restored health. Good luck to you and don't be afraid to check back in here with any questions. There is a wealth of information for you.
