The P&B 420E and the DeVillblis (sp) APAP's are the only one's on the market that have adjustable triggers for response. The ResMed Spirit and the Respironics Remstar do not have any such clinical adjustments.

I believe you're describing a problem of the 'Command on Flow Limitation 1FL1' feature on the 420E. This can be turned on or off by the clinician. It is usually turned off if there is a pressure run away for the patient.

Aside from that feature, APAP's do work differently for different people. That's why (in part) they build in the limit settings.
