Autopap question

Posted by adjusted on March 07, 2006 at 20:45:40:

Why is it bad to have a wide range on the autopap? Because my use of the one lent to me by the DME for a week showed a range of 6 up to 17 1/2 (even though I'd been on a regular CPAP at 8 and increased to 10 for the prior 4 years) when my autoset Resmed S8Vantage came in, the sleep doc said that we might as well leave it at the full range (4 to 20) to accommodate my obviously changeable pressure. I've had it only one week, and I've been sleeping well, but now I'm worried that it should have a tighter range, but I'm not sure that I understand why.
