Thank you! I am a moderate to severe sleep apnea patient. I had been using a dental device for 3 years, until it had extended my jaw so far forward that the dentist would not remake it. So then I switched to a regular cpap, which I used for 4 years at a pressure of 8. When I began developing severe morning headaches, and my husband said I was snoring again, I went for a retitration, and then my pressure was increased to 10. I still had headaches, so they lent me an autopap to use for one week. When the information was read, the sleep doctor said I appeared to sleep best at 16, or I could buy an autopap and leave it set from 4 - 20, since it appeared I went as low as 6 and as high as 17.5, and they prefer to set both above and below what showed up on the study.
I have been sleeping well, no headaches, and my husband says no snoring. When he looks at the machine with a flashlight while I'm sleeping, he says the pressure changes frequently.
So, in answer to your question, I guess I'm a good candidate for an autopap, but I wondered if it was unusual or dangerous to have such a wide pressure range.
