Yes, this is common. I started using CPAP 8 months ago, and had that same problem. I would pass gas at least 50 or more times per day. I stuck with the APAP machine that I have, and recently, I, and my girlfriend :) , notice that my problem has pretty much gone away. I think that it takes time for your brain to learn to breathe with CPAP. The brain has to unlearn the normal way of breathing, and adapt. The process took my brain several months. Recently I am sleeping much better than I did before. I can notice a difference. There is a big lesson in this: DON'T GIVE UP! Stick with CPAP. In the early phases, many people give up too quicly without really achieving the benefits of CPAP.
