Well, it could. However, if one has had Sleep Apnea for many years prior to being diagnosed, one has built up a considerable sleep debt. Also, if one is not sleeping enough hours at night, napping may also be necessary.

In many cultures - especially in warner climates - people normally take a mid-day siesta. This is considered perfectly natural and normal in such cultures.
