Insurance is of limited value as you would still need a prescription, and because CPAP is not a readily available item (especially if you're in a another country). Insurance will only pay for it, not help you to find it (to the best of my knowledge). If you have a "Plain Jane" CPAP, the relacement cost would generally be under US$1000, even with an intergrated humidifier, mask, and hose. I think that it would be covered under travel insurance or household insurance anyhow.
