Posted by airwalkrr on March 29, 2006 at 10:35:05:I've been having difficulty sleeping for most of my adult life (I am 23 so I'd count that as the last five years). I'm not overweight and consider myself fairly healthy in most respects. I am a university student, am married, and lead a fairly active life. For the past three years I have been trying to get treatment for my sleeping troubles, but nothing seems to work quite well. For two years, my doctors have believed my problems sleeping were possibly stress-induced, and as my family has a history of depression, they have treated me for depression. While depression medications like efexxor and wellbutrin have seemed to make my life a bit easier, they have never really solved the problem. More recently (the last two months) I have been taking ambien for insomnia but while it seems to effectively put me to sleep (as in, I don't remember waking up, which is normally fairly common), I still have not been waking up rested. I think I know what it means to be rested since I used to have significantly less difficulty with sleep before I was 12. However, for the past three years it has very adversely affected my performance in school and I feel I am never going to be completely happy in life if I have to walk around tired as if I haven't had a wink of sleep at night. I'm starting to wonder if my condition is possibly sleep apnea but I am wanting to learn more about it. I don't have health insurance at the moment (although I will in a couple months) so I want to be as sure as possible before I act on any information. If you know of places where I can get more information, I would be obliged. What prompted me to begin posting here is that I took the sleep test on this site and it indicated I may have sleep apnea and/or insomnia. Thanks for any help you can provide.
